Have you read my best of beauty post for 2018? If you haven’t, click here!!! If you have, keep reading… so we know that pretty much for an entire year, or the majority of it, I’ve been using the same beauty products because I love them, know they work for my skin type (oily t-zone, dry everywhere else), and my sensitive skin. However, I love January and the fresh motivation and aura of new-ness it brings. Sooooo I’ve tried a few new beauty products- which is more shocking than you may think because I use a ton of products that I know and love that work on my bridal clients, but stick to the same routine/ products on myself!

Foundation: Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation in the shade Cashew when I have a spray tan and shade Rataan when I’m in between tans. I’ve tried this product before and have used it for a few performances and my brides love it, but I wanted to try it for every day wear. I apply it using the Morphe M439 brush. I tested this product through 8hrs of teaching dance and dancing myself and it didn’t budge. And it is so worth the hype and money! Yes, it’s pricey for foundation, but I repeat- So. Worth. It. It leaves my skin literally flawless, is sweat proof, “touching your face” proof, and lasts hours and hours looking that flawless. I’m not kidding. Being that I have sensitive skin, I was afraid that wearing foundation this “long-lasting” would be too heavy on my skin and in turn, cause breakouts. This product actually feels weightless on my skin. I’ve had no miserable breakouts with all the flawless benefits. If I could recommend a staple product, it would be this one.

After applying my foundation, I do set it with powder. As I mentioned, my t-zone is oily so I like everything to have more of a matte finish with a pop of highlight where I decide to put it. That being said, I’ve also tried a new powder to set my double wear, the Nyx Cosmetics “Set it and Don’t Fret it” mineral loose powder in light/medium. It’s been a winning combo, for sure. I use this setting powder on my brides and they love it, so I reached in my kit and have been using it on myself. I use my Colourpop nofilter pressed powder in “Fair” under my eyes to set concealer, then take this powder and a packing powder brush (Morphe E1) and set all over the rest of my face. It aides the wear of foundation to set your liquid products with a powder and it definitely enhances a smoother skin-canvas for matte and poreless skin. I’ve also noticed that this powder, when set with a spray, is less transfer resistant than many I’ve tried. Score!!

Now, if you’ve been here for awhile, you know I’ve pretty much been a diehard Maybelline Line Stiletto liquid eyeliner fan (found in my best of beauty 2018 post). For Christmas, I purchased the Superhero Eye Kit from ItCosmetics exclusively for Ulta (which was sadly limited edition). I figured I’d give the superhero liners a try (both for the waterline and liquid liner). I was not prepared for becoming obsessed with the Superhero liquid liner! It is 24hr smudge proof and waterproof and the applicator tip glides on my eye like a dream. It’s truly a high end quality, precision liner that I don’t know how I’ve lived without. It’s a step above my Maybelline favorite and although I still love that one, I highly recommend the ItCosmetics liner, especially if you’re new to the cat eye game.

I have also been LOVING magnetic lashes (after some hesitation since they were first released). They’re more comfortable than using glue, there’s no mess, no dry time, they don’t peel up after long wear as many do with glue and look exactly like lash extensions, although they come in a band, not individually. I highly recommend getting a pair!! I’m in love!! I’ve been wearing the Ardell lashes in style 110.

I’ve also switched up my lip liner and have been reaching more than not for my Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat lip liner in Pillow Talk to outline and add lasting color all day to my lips! This liner really keeps lipstick IN PLACE (no color bleeding)!
As a makeup artist and beauty guru I love getting and testing new products. That being said, I’m making it one of my goals for 2019 to not get stuck in too long of a “same product rut”.
As we make our way to mid January, how are you holding up with the goals and resolutions you’ve made for yourself this year? Are you trying new makeup techniques for 2019? Leave me a comment and share some of your goals with me! Happy Glamming!
